CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Craniosacral therapy is often considered a form of alternative therapy that incorporates elements of energy medicine. (CST) focuses on the manipulation of the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It involves gentle manipulation of the skull, spine and sacrum to address imbalances in the craniosacral system, aiming to release tensions and enhance the flow of energy and cerebrospinal fluid. This therapeutic approach is based on the concept that the craniosacral system has its own rhythm, and disturbances in this rhythm may be indicative of health issues. By addressing these disturbances through gentle manipulation, they aim to promote balance and alleviate potential health problems.
During a craniosacral therapy session, a practitioner uses gentle touch to palpate and manipulate various parts of the body, with a particular emphasis on the skull, spine, and pelvis. The goal is to release restrictions and tensions in the connective tissue, allowing the cerebrospinal fluid to flow more freely and promoting overall health and well-being.
Craniosacral therapy is sometimes used as a complementary or alternative treatment for a variety of conditions, such as headaches, stress, chronic pain, sinus pain and TMJ.
